We’re honored to contribute Southern Living plants to the Southern Living Idea House every year, and for this year’s 2024 Idea House in the Kiawah River community on Johns Island, South Carolina, the natural surroundings proved a guiding inspiration. Scott Parker, the project’s landscape architect and co-founder of Charleston-based DesignWorks said the landscape and garden design were guided by the area’s Low Country beauty, honoring both the natural feel of the coastal forest and the more formal garden traditions of Charleston, South Carolina.
This year’s Idea House showcases container designs by Steph Green of Contained Creations®, blending Charleston’s formal garden elegance with the natural charm of the coastal forest. Each container, filled with Southern Living Plants, enhances the architectural beauty of the Idea House while inspiring practical container gardening ideas for home landscapes. Steph’s creations demonstrate how strategically placed containers can transform any space into a striking garden feature.
