Linda Vater trades in an aging rose bed for heat tolerant rhododendrons

This family’s front flower beds were in need of a landscape renovation to replace some aging roses, and they asked for rhododendrons! Rhododendrons have sometimes struggled in the heat of the South, but our Southern Living Southgate Rhododendrons are the solution. They are specially bred for Southern climates but do well in traditional rhododendron areas as well.

Garden expert Linda Vater paired Southgate Rhododendron Breeze with other easy-care evergreen plants from Southern Living including Kaleidoscope Abelia, Purple Daydream Loropetalum, and added some reblooming beauty with Encore Azalea Autumn Lilac.

A self-taught garden designer who obsesses over garden-inspired living, Linda appears weekly on local NBC KFORtv, speaks frequently on all things gardening, and is a firm believer that gardening brings us together.
