This Summer, Take It Easy with White Wedding Hydrangea

  2. This Summer, Take It Easy with White Wedding Hydrangea
  • By Kim Toscano
  • April 22, 2020
Plant this easy-care summer landscape and relax.

Drifts of billowy white blooms add an air of nostalgia to this charming summer landscape featuring White Wedding® Hydrangea. Blocks of color characterize this design, with White Wedding® setting the tone as it hugs the corners of the porch. With bold texture and oversized blooms, hydrangeas offer the perfect counterpoint for lush foliage. Here, we add color and texture with Purple Pixie® Dwarf Weeping Loropetalum and Obsession™ Nandina. These handsome shrubs provide a soft echo of color across the two sides of the porch while maintaining diversity in the garden. Also bridging the entryway, ‘Everillo’ EverColor® Carex carpets the ground with vibrant color that accents the entryway. On the shadier side of the planting we finish with a duo of Mountain Snow™ Pieris and Cleopatra™ Liriope. All plant materials are grouped in large blocks or rows to create a strong visual impact.

Design Tip: Hydrangeas are widely adaptable from USDA Zone 4 through 9 and thrive under full sun to part shade conditions. Adjust the supporting plant selections to match your climate and sun exposure.
