Day 10: Swags-a-Leaping

give your chairs a stress-free makeover with a seasonal swag.

Swags are a fantastic way to dress up any chair!

Your guests will leap over their seats when they see yours decked out in an array of greenery from the Southern Living Plant Collection

Dedore cedar, Carolina sapphire, Camellia greenery, Oakland™ Holly —Oh my!

These charming arrangements are sure to give your dining room some extra warmth all while warming the hearts of your guests.

This particular swag also works well hanging from a door knob, a mirror or in front of the kitchen window. Also, the apples we chose to use can also be exchanged for pine cones or any other type of waxy fruit.

Instructions:

Step 1: Gather all of your clippings and let them soak in water for several hours. If short on time, feel free to skip this step.

*Soaking your clippings is only necessary if you want your greenery to last longer.

Step 2: Gloves should be used for this next step. Gather 5 stems of the cedar and Carolina sapphire. Place the longer stems towards the center and shorter stems on the outside of your cluster.

Step 3: Wrap floral wire around the top portion.

Step 4: Tuck the October Magic™ Orchid Camellia greenery and Oakland™ Holly under the floral wire. I love how shiny and dark the camellia greenery is!

Step 5: Wire three mini apples and place them along the center and top portion of the swag.

Step 6: Measure your ribbon to make sure you cut enough to wrap around the entire chair.

Step 7: Wire your ribbon onto the swag.

Step 8: Center your swag on the back of chair and tie the ribbon.

With your table set, dinner ready and swags that leave your guests leaping, your dinner party will certainly be one worth remembering!

This quick and easy solution for embellishing your chairs will also make an unforgettable favor for each of your special guests. Once napkins are folded and bellies are full, it’s time to send your friends and family home with their very own swag.

*Tip: Mist the arrangement twice a week and to place outside in cooler temperatures to preserve the apples.
